10/01/04: Hey everyone, sorry it's been so long since the newsletter has been updated. That sure doesn't mean that we haven't been busy, in fact we're coming off Mind Candy's best summers yet. Back on August 14th we had a blast opening for MU330 and Suburban Legends at the Hideaway, and we even cut a live record that night with 9 songs which is available for sale at all of our upcoming shows!
Later in August we performed at the 2004 HEMPFEST w/ our good friends Wilderness Children (members of PMS) on the Hemporium stage, and Kottonmouth Kings, and an honor it was. Pictures of us playing at HEMPFEST are up in the gallery section. Also we just got done playing with New Blood Revival (NJ), and for the 2nd time with our friends and NY ska pioneers, THE TOASTERS last Wed at the Hideaway, premiered a new song, had a great live response, met some new friends, got alot of new emails, and sold 20+ CD's. I think the highlight of the night had to be going back to the Toasters hotel after the show, hanging out, and partying like rockstars, new york style.
Moving ahead in the future of Mind Candy, we have some amazing shows to announce, Sat Oct 2nd (this Sat)for the 2nd annual "Barn Burner Fest" at The Skate Barn in Renton w/ The Lowelives, HANG, Gutbomb, The Red Scare (Vancouver, BC), and Autonomadic, Tues Oct 5th at Studio 7 with Strike One, Agent Apathy, Arrogant Sons Of Bitches (NY), and RIVER CITY REBELS!, Wed Oct 13th at the Funhouse w/ Fifty Fifty, Fri Oct 29th for "Rock Against The War" (plea for peace benefit) at Cascadia College, Sat Oct 30th w/ Seasons of Nightmares, Potty Mouth Society, and BLOODHAG at the Brickhouse in Ballard, and Sun Oct 31st for a Halloween Bash at the Flag House (Kirkland) with Potty Mouth Society, Idiot Arsenal, and Wilderness Children.
In our 9 year history we finally have press packs available, so if you want to book the band give us an email and we can now send press materials. If you want to pick up our new live CD, come to a show and we should have em'. See you at the next show.
Peace,
Greg
2/29/04: Happy fuckin' leap year! We've got a whole bunch of new shows posted -- be sure to check 'em out.
1/12/04: We just finished up another drunken weekend of underground music. First off, Mind Candy had a great response last Fri (1/9) opening the Toasters (NY), a big thanks to Thrasher presents for giving us the opportunity. It was like the 96 ska scene all over again with 2 tone suits everywhere, suspenders, PBR, with members of the Specials and Easy Big Fella attending, and skanking to the beat all night long. It was a packed show, made alot of new fans/contacts, sold some merch, and there were a couple hundred kids skanking and moshing to Mind Candy. Of course the Toasters tore it up for 2 hours with possibly the best live energy I've seen in years.
The next night we had the long overdue return show at THE BOTHELL HELL HOUSE (house party) celebrating Endo's birthday w/ Idiot Arsenal, Contra, Danger Room, Third, Bob Cock Allstars, and Potty Mouth Society!!! 150 people showed up, got hammered, moshed, burned shit, and rocked to all the bands. It went so well in fact we'll be doing shows there once a month to help out local and touring bands to boost up the all ages scene, check out next months lineup @ the Hell House.
Look for the Local Chaos comp to be unofficially released on Fri and Sat Jan 30th/31st @ both "LOCALCHAOSPALOOZA" dates @ the Uptown with free copies to the first 30 people through the door each night, if you're 21+ yor're not gonna want to miss this! Check the calendar for full festival lineup. The full roster for the comp will posted on the site soon and available at all the shows.
Also we will know by Feb 4th if Local Chaos wins the lottery for our own weekly TV series on public access ch 77 to be called, "Local Chaos TV" featuring live footage, interviews, music videos, and live callers promoting all the Local Chaos bands.
12/18/03: Hey all you crazy fucks,
Mind Candy just wrapped up an exciting weekend w/ 2 back to back Hook and the Daggers (Olympia) shows. The first night was the 21+ Uptown show w/ Kill the Precident, probably the biggest turnout we've seen at the Uptown so far, and the room erupted when the Daggers hit stage, and each band was covered in beer! The second Hook and the Daggers night being the all ages matinee @ the Firehouse w/ newer Local Chaos bands: Fifty Fifty, Contra, Clean Cut Lie, Tripods, Danger Room; and good old favorites: Autonomadic and Kill the Precident; we had about 100 people on a Sun afternoon!. Thanks to everyone that came out and rocked and all the bands.
We are turning up the notch on the Local Chaos street team with about 15 strong now, so now is the time if you want to join -- hit the streets and promote underground music. Congratulations to James from Moonshine Incident, the new and first LC street team recruiter; he's also helping me find bands to sign with Local Chaos Records. We've had about 10 people join in the last week! There's a lot of new dates, and plenty more in the works, so keep checking the calendar for all the details. If you're interested in getting in free to shows, join the Chaos street army -- check out the street team section on the LC website and give us an email.
Big news, Mind Candy has scored an opening spot for ska legends, The Toasters (NY) Fri Jan 9th @ Studio 7 thanks to our friends at Thrasher Presents. Unfortunately there is no guest list for Mind Candy, but if you haven't seen the Toasters, they started the ska movement in the US in early 80's, and are still one of the best live bands in world today. Here's a little history for ya:
Much like the reanimated Buffy Summers (a.k.a. Buffy the Vampire Slayer for non-geeks), The Toasters have clawed their way out of the coffin that far too many were happy to nail shut and are back in surprisingly strong form after the crash and burn of the US ska scene. How Bucket was able to survive all that went down -- including his much celebrated label -- and go on to record a better than decent follow-up to "Don't Let The Bastards Grind You Down" is a testament to his damn-the-torpedoes tenacity and Job-like faith in Ska.
With half the band made up of holdovers from the pre-meltdown days (Jack Ruby, Sledge, Larry Snell, plus ex-Scofflaw/solo act Buford O'Sullivan), it's no surprise that The Toasters are (if you'll forgive the tasteless, white trash analogy) as tight as The Rock's ass -- and even though there are a few minor missteps, "Enemy of the System" is really quite a good album. Buck's singing is incredibly relaxed and self-assured (losing everything can set you free?), and while the some of the band's later studio recordings sounded a bit workman like, The Toasters are clearly engaged and energized here.
Yet again, Bucket has crafted a fine set of instantly recognizable Toasters tunes, all incorporating a pop sensibility that suggests there's a Brill Building tunesmith lurking beneath his rough and ready persona (see "Pirate Radio," "Sitting on Top of the World," "Pendulum" or better yet, the kiss-off "If You Loved Me" and the fun calypso-y bonus track "Road to Rio"). In a perfect world, a least a couple of Bucket's cuts from each Toasters' album would have been in Casey Kasem's Top 40 countdown -- his songwriting can be that good.
Nagging questions while listening to this CD: where do The Toasters now fit into the sonic landscape without the ska scene of old? If a ska band makes record, does anyone care? All I know is that he was a lone man on a mission back in '82 who almost single-handedly created the US ska scene that peaked in '97. At least this time, he's got a band, a slew of albums and a whole lot of history backing him up when steps up on that soapbox.
Happy Holidays,
the Local Chaos crew
11/10/03: Hey Meatheads and vegans,
Local Chaos and Mind Candy wrapped up a crazy triple header this weekend. Starting with Doc Maynard's in pioneer square last Thurs, Hell's Kitchen in Tacoma on Fri, and closed it out with Jessica's birthday @ the Uptown in Seattle on Sat -- talk about a 3 day bender, I'll be recovering all week! Want to thank everyone that came out this weekend and of course all the bands: Headache Jackson, Jackmove (Portland), Quick 66, The Creeps (Spokane), Kane Hodder, the Black Halos (BC), Jet City Fix, Mark Bruback, and Mass Knockout.
ALL OUT from Portland got added to the Fri Nov 21st show w/ Kane Hodder and Potty Mouth Society, so you definately come rock with the cock out for that one. Also we are working with some venues new to Local Chaos so come out and support the shows so we can continue expanding and thusly hook up more bands.
We are bumping the official release date of "Underground Explosion" 2, the Local Chaos comp to ealy Dec due to lack of funds, to get new material and all the bands on, and in order to make it better quality. January and Feb we are looking for release party venues also venues to host the 2nd annual "Local Chaospalooza" punk fest weekend, preferable 2 stages, 2 days showcasing 20 Local Chaos bands; send us an email if have ideas or would like to help.
10/05/03: It's been a crazy month for Mind Candy and friends. We traveled east to Spokompton to play 2 nights with punkrock veterans, Moral Crux. The first night was at Mootsie's Tavern where we had a packed house. The second night was an all ages show at Club Soda, a wholesale soda distributor. They had over 500 different kinds of indy sodas. We all got hopped up on Jolt and ginger ale and Erik actually puked soda. Good times... The only bad part was that on Friday night someone broke into my car and stole my guitar, my amp, Greg's bass drum and all his cymbals plus our box of t-shirts, pins and patches. So if anyone in Spokane sees someone wearing a Mind Candy shirt, ask them their name and kick 'em in the nutz!
Thankfully, our friend Rex at Fiend or Faux fronted us some more merch so it will be available at upcoming shows. We've got MC shirts in black, white and red and black Local Chaos hoodies and tees. We are trying to forget about recent hardships and look ahead to all the great shows that are coming up in Roctober and Oivember(?).
First up is the End of the World show this Wednesday at the Graceland. It will be a star-studded line up of local punk/ska/hardcore bands featuring Sadie Hawkins Rejects, The Cause, The Greedie$, Third and Mind Candy. Bring your friends out to support these great local bands and help show the Graceland that the local scene is worth promoting. Check out the shows page for other upcoming events including Fright Night at the Flying Frog and the Halloween yukka party at the Schroad Shack!
See ya there!
-Jason
08/28/03: More hot new shows posted. Check it out motherfuckers!
08/11/03: WUUzzz up!!! Yeah, I screwed up and put The Unliked on the 8/22 gig, but of course it's actually The Disliked. I apologize to anyone in the band and we are glad to say all the fliers have been updated -- should be a kickass time! So now that we have six people on the street team; Red and Kat live in Redmond so I am setting the meeting up in Redmond Sat Aug 15th at Victors coffee @ 12 before the Frog. The first show I need the street team for is Fri Aug 22nd @ the Brickhouse w/ Third, Mind Candy, The Disliked, Mark Bruback, and Straight Line (3 members to run merch table and hand out fliers). Thanks, and I'll keep you posted on the meetings.
Also, a big news update: Local Chaos has just joined forces with the NW Hardcore Coalition including bands such as Schoolyard Heroes, the Wannabes, Quick 66, Old Man Smithers, as well as old familiar friends like Agent 86, Millhous, Third, and many others. We've gathered troops, set up stages, drank our 40's, and agreed that we are going to take over Seattle -- look for upcoming NW Hardcore Coalition with Local Chaos lineups and festivals.
Cheers,
Greg
07/28/03: As the Local Chaos punk rock army continues to blitzkrieg and bop through the summer months with some hot new punk rock shows, the Local Chaos Ministry of Information is organizing a crack street team to spread the punk rock Gospel and distribute punk rock gear. Check it out! We're still looking for street team volunteers; free merchendise and special guest-list privledges await enlistees. Email Greg at gregscandy@yahoo.com for more info.
07/13/03: What's shakin' Chaos Kids,
We're right smack in the middle of the bitchin'est summer ever and I thought you should all know what you've been missing out on if you were to busy/lazy/fucked up to come out to the recent Local Chaos shows. This last weekend was chalk full of good times and great music.
Friday was the second house party that we've thrown at this killer pad in Bothell. Before the show we were drinking vodka and rallying Jake's car on their dirt track. He popped a few tires but we found some replacements and there was no real damage.
While waiting for the kick pedal to show up we jammed for a bit as The Bob Cock Rotten Social Candy All-stars and butchered a bunch of Op Ivy and Rancid songs. Then the real party started with The Social Scene rocking the fuck out of the living room and everyone in it. After that, our good friends from San Francisco, Karate High School, showed up and raised the roof. If you are ever in the Bay area, you should really check them out. It's like hard-core/hi-hop/arcade rock, very cool shit and sure to get you jumping. Mind Candy played last and very briefly 'cause there were cops seen snooping around. But they never did come to the house and a good time was had by all.
But the real highlight of the weekend was on Saturday at Studio 7. It was the first annual Local Chaos "UNITY-FEST" 10 bands for $5. There were so many great bands that it's hard to comprehend with this feeble human mind. Once again The Social Scene kicked it all off with a furious set. Seriously, these four kids have more punk rock spirit than all the Victory Records bands put together. Fast and fun sing-along anthems with strong political lyrics that make you wanna burn flags and beat up skinheads. After them came The Pranks. Four high school kids who sound like they've been rockin' since the 70's.
Next up was Shift Man Shift. These guys rock excruciatingly hard. They have that solid Face to Face meets No Use kind of sound with great harmonies and a feel-good attitude. Mind Candy played next and then Chief came on and fucked shit up with their punchy old-school punk rock style. Cornucopia played next. Now that was some seriously heavy shit. B.C. Death Metal that will gut you hollow and slurp out you organs like pudding and very nice folks as well. Look for them at the Seattle Metal-Fest in a few weeks. Keeping up the pace was the infamous Karate High School. It's very hard not to go ape-shit when these guys play. They know how to keep the crowd moving and they throw down harder than any hardcore hip-hoppin' punx I've ever seen. Limp Bizkit wishes they could rock this hard.
Then came our good friends Subjekt 2 Change. I've seen these guys play many times and they never fail to kick my ass. They are hands down the tightest metal/punk three piece in the scene. Allen and Scott totally shred on their guitar and bass respectively while Morgan backs it all up with the fat chops. Then came The Cause, a fun-lovin' rasta/punk trio. They are always awesome and they have a loyal following of hot chicks who like to bump and grind in the pit. Always a pleasure. And last but definitely not least was 3 Found Dead headlined the evening. These guys rock you like a buzz saw to the brain. Fast, gritty, punk-as-fuck hardcore with lots of yelling and growling. They always impress me with the raw energy that they bring to the shows. It was a perfect end to a great night.
If you missed out on all this fun, don't worry! There will be plenty of opportunities to rock out with your cock out. Just keep checking the SHOWS page for updates. Oh yeah, another reminder...Voting for the Battle of the Bands will continue into September so get all your friends to log onto battle.ernieball.com and vote for Mind Candy. After all, we'd vote for your band. Don't stop the rockin'... masturjason 07/04/03: Hey kiddies, happy fucking Independence Day! We've got some new shows comming up for you this July (and, of course, we're playing the Warped Tour on the 5th). Also check out the new Local Chaos page, blowing your block up shortly courtesy our friends at The Excused. 06/25/03: Hey all you crazy people, Mind Candy just got back from a successful weekend in SF, and hung out w/some really cool bands along the way. Keep your eye out for Mishap, the Other Left, and Karate High School out of the Bay coming to Seattle. A couple of big updates, our website changed to MindCandy.150m.com, although the old one be up a few more weeks. Mind Candy was selected by Ernie Ball along with Sadie Hawkins Rejects to play this year's Warped Tour 7/5 @ the Gorge. You'll want to go to the Ernie Ball stage early at Warped as time slots will be TBA. The contest continues by getting our friends and fans to vote for Mind Candy on battle.ernieball.com for a chance to win gear and play at the Key Club in Hollywood!!! Get everyone and their mama to log onto and vote for us, we appreciate everyone thats stuck with us, and the new friends, too. The Local Chaos comp called "Underground Explosion" has just hit the streets featuring 31 bands and sells for only $3 -- look for it at all the shows. Mind Candy is putting the finishing touches on the 1st full length album that is scheduled to be out at the Warped tour gig w/ free demos. For everyone that has been wondering, Wed June 25th is one of the last shows at Zaks w/ the Cause, Clampdown (Milwaukee), Members of the Yellow Press (Milwaukee), and Mark Bruback; it will be shut down by Friday. It looks like the Hurricane is being yanked from supporting punk bands again thanks to the owners' decisicion, and Troy is looking for another venue. So the Mind Candy/ Positively Negative show @ the Hurricane on Fri 6/27 is cancelled, they're probably going for the family image and the blues band scene. Definitely get out to the Moral Crux/Amazombies show this Sat at the Brickhouse from 7-11 -- only $5. Moral Crux just put out a new album on Lookout called "Pop Culture Assassins" that kicks ass, buy it or just show up. Finally, due to legal issues, the Anti-Ozzfest July 12th show name has changed to "Unity Fest". We've lowered the price to $5 for 10 bands; lineup remains the same. It's the same day as the block party w/ the Presidents, Catheters, Mea Culpa but that block party is more $ and ends at dark. Unity Fest is from 6-1 am, all ages/ bar with ID, and has a much better overall lineup, plus Studio 7 rules. Check the show listings for all the bands and details for the fest. See ya at the shows, Gibby 06/15/03: On the showtip you wanna check out Gibby's Birthday Bash and get drunk @ Zaks Wed 6/25 w/ the Cause, the Clampdown and Members of the Yellow Press (both Milwaukee punk) 9pm. The Moral Crux show June 28th at the Brickhouse is shaping up to be a packed show w/ other openers, Amazombies and the Pranks. Keep you eyes out for the Local Chaos Anti-Ozzfest Sat July 12th and the follow up weekend 2 shows w/ Catholic School Girls and Jack Move (both OR). Mind Candy was selected out of 2600 bands in the battle of the bands to play the Ernie Ball stage at Warped Tour 03 the Gorge July 5th!!! I believe it was decided mostly by online voting from the Ernie Ballwebsite. The 3 other nw winners that are sharing the stage w/ us are no strangers to Local Chaos either: Jaded 52, Straight Line, and Sadie Hawkins Rejects! What a line-up -- last year it was Poorsport and Holowpoints, this year same family -- finally Local Chaos has come back to Gorge! We want to thank everyone that voted us on,all the Local Chaos bands that have shown support the last couple years, the venues, Seattlepunk.net, and the Local Chaos maniacs! See ya at the show.... 05/27/03: Check out the shows section for brand new smokin' dates. Also, Mind Candy has just entered the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands 7, so starting Friday, log in and vote so Mind Candy has a chance to play on a future Warped Tour or at the Key Club Showcase. Please!!! 05/03/03: Mind Candy is taking about 3 weeks off to settle in newpads and to take a vacation; however, Bob Cock Allstars has a busy couple weeks kickin' off w/ Fri May 16th @ Jimmy Zs (Everett) with Catholic School Girls (Oregon punk), Shift Man Shift, 3 Found Dead, and guests; then Local Chaos launches the "UNDERGROUND EXPLOSION" comp release party Sat may 17th @ the Brick:House (Golden Gardens in Ballard) all ages with Anti- Everything, Social Scene, Catholic School Girls (Oregon punk) and Mark Bruback. The following weekend Fri May 23rd we'll be at the Catwalk ALL AGES w/ Dr. Neptune (Denver punks) and guests. Mind Candy will be playing a Spokane venue TBA sat may 31st w/ Moral Crux. Be sure to sign our email list or to spread dirty rumors on our message board. Also the brand new and highly anticipated Bob Cock Allstars web site is up and running at geocities.com/bobcockallstars, so check it out!!! 04/16/03: Greetings Local Chaos freaks, In other news the Catwalk has decided to cancel the every other Sun matinee shows due to economic reasons and lack of response, but look out for Local Chaos night @ the Catwalk Fri May 23rd ALL AGES w/ Mind Candy, Dr. Neptune (denver), and POSITIVELY NEGATIVE for $6!!! As I write this I am heading for yet another triple threat weekend of Local Chaos starting w/ this Fri @ the 4th Ave Tavern, Olympia, 2nd day @ Ground Zero 6pm w/ Millhous, Load Levelers, Social Scene, and finishing off Easter Sun April 20th with the Local Chaos official 4:20 show ALL AGES at Jimmy Zs feat: 3 Found Dead, Bent Kactis, Last One Out, Social Scene, Bob Cock, Motorama (Vancouver). Word on the street says there will be free teasers of the Local Chaos Comp entitled "Underground Explosion Vol 1" @ the all ages 4:20 show at Jimmy Zs to be officially released in May!!! (look out for release parties) To make it official Mind Candy will be moving out of the LCHQ, but the show goes on. Anyways check out our shows section for correct info on all of our gigs. Cheers, 02/18/03: What's up, Local Chaos Maniacs! We want to thank everbody that came out to Local Chaospalooza Weekend a few weeks ago, and made it a huge success with sold-out shows (almost) two nights in a row. Keep your eyes peeled for a similar lineup next year! Moving forward, last weekend's Local Chaos house party for Matt and Evan's B-Day was a beer-spitting, staggering, good old-fashioned kick in the kiwis!!! Transparent Urinal (from Bellingham, WA) opened the show, followed by another boring set by the Greedie$, the North Pole Sluts, Subjekt 2 Change, Millhous, and Anti-Everthing. There were four kegs, quaffed readily by fans and guests, bringing the energy level up to Local Chaos standards, as long as a BBQ all day long. At one point during their set, the lead singer from Millhous finally put his head to good use by ramming it into Dan's (from North Pole Society) abdomen. Be sure to come out to the three day week of local punk rock, starting Friday night with All Out and Quarter Spent from Oregon, teaming up with Local Chaos to bring you a kick ass show on two stages at Jimmy Z's. On Saturday, see All Out, Positively Negative, and Sadie Hawkins Rejects at the EMP at 6 PM. Close it all out with Local Chaos at the Catwalk on Sunday with Bent Kactis, Bob Cock All-Stars, 26000 Volts, Quarter Spent, and Mark Bruback -- All Ages! 3 PM. Don't forget my bitches: The first Thursday of each month is Local Chaos night at Zak's. Fuck church -- Local Chaos is holding mass every other Sunday at the Catwalk. We'll tell you what to think and what to wear and what to suck and you'll love it! Reverend Bob Cock and Sir Mark Bruback will bend you over and fill you with the Holy Spirit. Boxed wine and thin waffers will be served afterwords. Doors at 2:30. And don't forget to come see Wife Beater, Texylvania, the Chiefs with Potty Mouth and Mind Candy at the Lobo on Saturday, March 1st. Check out all the newest shit on the Mind Candy show calendar. See you at the show -- Gibby. 01/28/03: Check out the latest update on our upcoming shows, just posted. More to come soon! 01/01/03: Happy New Year's, Local Chaos Maniacs! I hope everybody had a merry alcohol or punk-rock induced Holiday season, following the fashion of the Local Chaos rock stars. Hell, we hardly remember it! Oh, yeah, the 2nd Ave Pizza show was another success with Really Rottens, Idiot Arsenal, and a remarkable set by Mark Bruback. Unfortunately, due to complications, Patty Mouth couldn't play. A lot of old and new Local Chaos faces created a great vibe at the show, and the Really Rottens' fifteen-minute set left the crowd wanting more -- we can't wait to come back. Two days later, on the 21st, the first anual Local Chaos Xmas party was a smash, or maybe we just got smashed -- one of the two. The party started around six o'clock at Josh's (from Anti-Everything) house, and everyone was baked even before the Turkey was done. We want to thank all the bands and people that helped make the potluck such a success, including Anti-Everything, North Pole Society, the Really Rottens, and the surprise appearance by the legendary Hollowpoints. They had a nice Christmas tree, the turkey was devoured within twenty minutes, the Greedie$ showed up, and two High Life kegs were consumed, even though all we had was Fisher Price cups. Hee, hee! Aside from Ronnie taking out Jason's (of Mindcandy) eye with his guitar, a few broken walls, a lot of barf, a broken leg, and a partridge in a pear tree, it was a successful Xmas shindig. The turkey was moist and juicy, the stuffing was nice and slimey, the apple pie was fresh from the store, and the North Pole Society brought a superb potatoe cassorole. Can't wait for next year! At an amazing CD release party at the Catwalk with the Greedie$, Graveyard Shift, the Amazombies, and a surprising turnout, it was like a Local Chaos family reunion. I don't the Catwalk has seen a crowd that rowdy since Twisted Sister and Quiet Riot in '85. Moving on to New Year's Eve we had a very successful Local Chaos party at Nathan's house in Edmonds, featuring an instrumental set by North Pole Set and a vocalized set by Mind Candy. We had to leave during North Pole's set to grab a mike for our upcoming set, and when we returned, the crowd, thanks to the keg of Mac and Jack's, was liquored up to Local Chaos standards. After two encores, we packed up, and tried to rush over to the Hollowpoints and Angry Amputees party in Seattle for the final countdown to New Year's, only to find the pigs had just broken the party up. We've decided that, since the Slice of Life festival has been postponed, it would be a perfect time to take a few weeks off to record some new material. We'll be back Saturday, January 18th, with Potty Mouth Society and Really Rottens. And don't forget about Local Chaospalooza on two stages at Jimmy Z's on Friday, January 24th, and the all-ages version, on Saturday, January 25th. It features the Hollowpoints, the Greedie$, and Sadie Hawkins Rejects, and starts at 7:00 PM for just $5. Just confirmed recently is our CD release party with Really Rottens and Subjekt 2 Change at Zak's, Friday, March 7th. Gotta go, see ya at the next Local Chaos show! Love, peace, and unity -- Greg. 12/09/02: Season's Greetings, you slimey Local Chaos bitch fucks! Following up a killer weekend with the Bob Cock All-Stars, the weekend of December 6 Local Chaos had a successful weekend with Mind Candy and Poorsport back-to-back shows. Apparently, the Ground Zero show was featured as a "Selected Show" in the Stranger. Even though there were many other shows that night, the crowd that came rocked out -- with their collective cock out. The next night (at the benefit for the Eastside punk scene), Mind Candy opened the show, and warmed everbody up before Poorsport came out and once again rocked, while 3 Dueces followed up, playing for thirty people as if it were a sold-out stadium. Finally, the Cause simmered everyone down with a reggae set at the end of the night. The show raised about $100 for Premier Soundworks in Kirkland, allowing them to continue to support local bands on the Eastside. Anyways, Local Chaos is gearing up for its next all-ages show at 2nd Ave Pizza, on December 19th, at 6pm (and its free!). It will feature Idiot Arsenal, Potty Mouth Society, Mind Candy, Really Rottens, and spoken word by Mark Bruback!! Also, our latest update on the 1st Annual Local Chaos Xmas Potluck is confirmed, and it's shaping up to be a kick-in-the-nuts good time! Confirmed on the lineup is: Autonomadic, the North Pole Society, Mind Candy, Anti-Everything, and the Greedie$. The show will be from 6:30-10:30, and it is encouraged to bring an entree of choice. Mmmm...entrees. Feel free to bring your Mom's cassarole or your Grandma's bearded-clam chowder. What!? It will be at Josh's (of Anti-Everything) house in Mountlake Terrace. Email Greg for directions. It's getting closer to the release of the first Local Chaos compilation disc, featuring fourteen local bands involed with Local Chaos. Included are Sadie Hawkins Rejects, Millhous, the Greedie$, 3 Dueces, Portrait of Poverty, 26000 Volts, the Hollowpoints, and more! Also, Mind Candy will be ringing in the New Year at the Slice of Life music festival, Saturday, January 11 in Issaquah, thanks to School Bus Productions. It will be an outdoor extravaganza, starting at 2:00pm, and continuing until 12:30am, in downtown Issaquah. We'll keep you posted with our time slot. Just confirmed is a 21-and-up show with Potty Mouth Society and Mind Candy at the Lobo Saloon, Seattle, Saturday, January 18. Next up is the "First Anual Local Chaospalooza" at the Jimmy Z's, in Everett, Friday, January 24 (on two stages). Confirmed on the fest is Sadie Hawkins Rejects, Potty Mouth Society, the Hollowpoints, Shift Man Shift, and the Greedie$. Hopefully the LC compilation will be out in time for the show! In the spirit of the season, Gibby has composed a holiday poem to tickle your "literary candy cane": Gotta go / see you at the show / you dirty ho / have a Merry Chistmas and suck on your Mom's greasy toe. Don't forget to check out our message board. Peace, love, and balls of holly. -- Gibby of Local Chaos 11/26/02: Hey Local Chaos maniacs!: We just wrapped up a successful Second Annual Seattle Unite Show at Premier Soundworks with those damn Potty Mouths, Shift Man Shift, Subjekt 2 Change, Big Bubba, and Millhous last Saturday. Even though the turnout did not meet expectations, we were still able to raise a couple hundred dollars for the NW Harvest Benefit. After the show everyone invited them over to the Local Chaos Headquarters, where we partied hard with Millhous and the rest of the crew untill the sun comes up. Boy, Millhous sure knows how to get down! Keep your eyes out for the latest
First off I want to thank Scott from Subjekt 2 Change and Seattlepunk.net for selecting Mind Candy as "band of the month" for APRIL!!! I want to apologize for not updating our site and some of the venue changes. Thanks to everyone that came out to the 3 day Local Chaos fest (@ Zaks and all the bands (including 3 Found Dead, Bob Cock, the Cause, Shmidtfits!, and Quick 66). We filled in a show for the Greedies on the 3rd night (Sat april 5th) for a benefit called "DEPLETED URANIUM BABIES AREN'T MUCH FUN", raising money for victoms of depleted uranium bombs in the Middle East that has caused mutated babies and soldier fatalities starting after the Persian Gulf war with toxic environmental affects lasting decades. We played w/ a political bluegrass band called Red Emmas Dance Band that kicked some really great toe tappin' swampy folk music with a punk edge, legend Mark Bruback, DJ fuckin dumpster, and spoken word by Teela (raised about 50 bucks).
Gibby
showcases this weekend with the Bob Cock All-Stars and Green River Thrillers. And for the first weekend of December, we'll feature back-to-back shows with Poorsport. On the 7th, 3 Deueces will join Mind Candy and Poorsport for a show benefiting the Eastside punk scene. Also look out for our appearance on the first Local Chaos Productions compilation sampler in January, including a CD release party with the bands TBA.
